While the number of people whose economic circumstances and working patterns make regular, automated payments a potential problem has been rising steadily, the pandemic and its associated economic squeeze has made that problem acute. In fact, 44% of payers of all types agree that in the past 12 months ‘My financial situation worsened forcing me to pass the due date for bills several times’.
